(official Cleveland Indians press release)

INDIANS INVITE 1B MIKE NAPOLI

TO MAJOR LEAGUE CAMP

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent 1B MIKE NAPOLI to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League Spring Training camp, bringing the total number of non-roster invitees to 24.

Napoli, 36, owns a Major League career average of .246 (1125-4572) with 224 doubles, 267 home runs, 744 RBI and 650 walks across 12 seasons with the LA Angels, Rangers, Red Sox and Indians (.346/.475/.821 OPS).  The Pembroke Pines, FL native has hit at least 17 home runs over each of the last ten seasons since 2008, one of just five Major League players to make that claim.

He spent the 2017 season with the Texas Rangers, clubbing 29 home runs with 66 RBI in 124 games in his third stint in Arlington.  Napoli was an integral part of Cleveland’s 2016 American League Championship club, collecting career-highs in home runs (34), RBI (101), games (150), runs (92) and hits (133) while leading the club in homers and RBI after signing a one-year deal in January 2016.
