News-Talk 1480 WHBC AM congratulates Pam Cook for 25 years of service as of February 13. Pam serves as the Program Director, News Director and co-host of the “Canton’s Morning News with Pam Cook and Gary Rivers” morning show which airs 5:30am to 9am Monday through Friday.
“Everybody knows how technology has changed through the years, and I’m proud of being part of the progress these stations have seen. The one thing that seems to never change is the spirit, drive and pride in which we have served this community.” said Pam. “It’s really hard to believe it’s been 25 years. It’s great to come to work with great people at a radio station that is loved and respected. And it’s our listeners who have made this job so very special.” she added.
“Anyone who is willing to go to work at 4am every day and keep Stark County informed and entertained for 25 years, deserves recognition. Pam is true professional broadcaster and we are very happy to have her on our team.” stated VP/General Manager, Larry Gawthrop
Pam started as a night time news reporter/anchor and beat reporter at the radio station in 1989. Pam has won numerous Associated Press awards for her news coverage over the years. She has been a staple of the WHBC morning show since 1993 and named Program Director in 2003.
Before coming to Canton, Pam was the News Director of WBCO/WQEL radio in Bucyrus, Ohio for 4 years. Pam earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism at Ohio University. The Pittsburgh native has two sons, Jordan and Alex, and she lived in Magnolia, Ohio, until moving to Perry Twp. in 2015.
