Alliance murder suspect ruled insane, won't go to trial


Two mental exams had the same conclusion for 32-year-old Jeremy Stutler, and a judge rendered him not guilty by reason of insanity. Stutler is now expected to be confined at a mental institution.

Howard's rape and robbery trial underway


20-year-old Erick Howard is on trial for a home invasion, robbery, and rape at a North Canton home back in August. Prosecutors called the rape victim to the stand on Tuesday, as their first witness.

The Stark County Coroner's office has identified the North Canton man who killed himself after barricading himself in his apartment on Applegrove Street.  He is 25-year-old Joshua Breehl, who lived in the apartment where the shooting took place.

Canton Youths Accused in Murder Sent to Adult Court


Two 17-year-olds from Canton, arrested in the August murder of a 61-year-old Canton man, have seen their cases bound over to the Stark County Grand Jury after a hearing in Family Court.  17-year-olds D'von Saunders and Myron Roberson are accused in the shooting death of Melvin Hope of 11th Street, Northwest.  He was killed during a home invasion on August 14th and suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  The adults are also facing charges in the same case.

The Cambridge post of the Highway Patrol says troopers tried to stop a vehicle on I-70 in Guernsey County at around 3:30AM, but the car sped away. It headed toward the city of Cambridge, where it crashed into the Guernsey County Courthouse.

Ziegler Appeals Firing to Ohio Supreme Court


Former Stark County Treasurer Gary Ziegler is asking the Ohio Supreme Court to overturn his firing by County Commissioners and return him to office.  Ziegler's attorney, Matthew Nakon, argued the Commissioner's firing of Ziegler was unconstitutional.  He was dismissed after former Deputy Treasurer Vince Frustaci was convicted of stealing millions of dollars from the county.  A ruling from the Supreme Court is expected in the near future.
