Massillon Man Indicted for Arson Fires

A 20-year old Massillon man has been indicted on 4 counts of  Aggravated Arson relating to the December 5, 2009 arson fires of two Massillon apartment buildings. Jamie Oswald has also been charged with five counts of Arson in connection with arson fires of other structures, including garages, in Stark County.  The indictment for all nine charges was filed in Stark County Court of Common Pleas today. The December 5 fires occurred at 120 4th Street NE at 8:21 p.m. and at 42 Charles Street SE at 8:39 p.m.  Both structures were occupied, multi-family apartment buildings and were completely destroyed by fire damages in excess of $500,000.  Within four days of the fire, the Division of State Fire Marshal determined both fires were acts of arson.  During the investigation, Oswald made statements that implicated him as being responsible for the arson fires at the apartment buildings.
