Since March 2000, WHBC has started its storied broadcast day with Fred and Pam waking the Northeast Ohio area, beginning the weekday mornings live at 5:30 a.m.
With the latest national news coverage from Fox News Radio at the top and bottom of every hour, local news and sports from the award-winning WHBC newsroom, and the trained meteorologists and technology provided by The Weather Channel, the morning team also provides weather and traffic updates every fifteen minutes, or as it happens when loyal listeners call-in with live reports to 330-450-1480.

Prior to returning home to Ohio, Fred Chenevey worked in New York, anchoring hourly newscasts on the RKO Radio Network, now known as the United Stations Radio Networks.
He was also midday anchor for two years at WCBS in New York, where he was chosen to host "The Ticker Tape Parade" following the first fight with Sadaam Hussein.
Before New York, Fred was News Director for KMPC in Los Angeles. Before LA, Fred was morning anchor and co-host at KFRC in San Francisco. He was selected "Newsperson Of The Year" for the RKO Chain of radio stations.
Since February of 1989, Pam Cook has served WHBC and is now program director, news director and morning show co-host.
As News Director, Pam has been responsible for much of the high-profile news coverage provided by the WHBC Newsroom. When Pam's not at the radio station, she's usually following one of her two sons' sports teams.
And she is quick to point out, a DIE-HARD Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Pam says being born and raised in the 'Burg makes you that way! Pam has now lived in Ohio for more than 25 years.
Every weekday morning at 7:40, we begin "Flashbacks," a look back at interesting happenings that took place on that particular date in history.
Then, we'll look at celebrities celebrating their birthdays, and LOCAL LISTENERS and their families and friends who are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. Mercy Medical Center, the Canton Fire Department, News-Talk 1480 WHBC Radio and the Ohio Department of Transportation have joined forces to provide continuously updated photos of I-77 traffic via four webcams located on the top of the Mercy Medical Center tower. These images refresh every minute.
