Senator Portman In Massillon Today — Speaks with Gary Rivers on Opioid Crisis

Senator Rob Portman is criss-crossing the state of Ohio.  He took ten minutes to speak with Gary Rivers on addiction and many of his efforts at fighting it on the national and local level.

Here is his schedule today:

U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and Representative Bob Gibbs (R-OH) will visit CommQuest Recovery Services in Massillon. CommQuest is helping the community turn back the tide of addiction by focusing on an all-of-the-above strategy that includes prevention, education, treatment and recovery. Portman and Gibbs will tour the facility and meet with people currently in recovery to discuss the heroin and prescription drug epidemic and how they are working to help.

Senator Portman, who is the author of the recently signed-into-law and bipartisan Comprehensive Addiction & Recovery Act (CARA), has helped lead the national effort to combat this epidemic that is devastating communities across Ohio and our country. He is currently working to get his bipartisan Synthetics Trafficking & Overdose Prevention (STOP) Act, legislation designed to help stop dangerous synthetic drugs like fentanyl and carfentanil from being shipped through our borders to drug traffickers here in the United States, andPrescription Drug Monitoring Act signed into law.
