(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – A truck driver tells the State Highway Patrol that he fell asleep just before his rig carrying 8000 chickens nearly went off the Eastbound Route 30 bridge over Pigeon Run Avenue SW in Tuscarawas Township early on Friday morning.

The trucker was not injured, but the mess forced the closure of 30 East and Pigeon Run for several hours.

Most of the chickens remained in cages on the truck.

Some were killed.

It took some time to remove the truck from the parapet of the bridge.
