Who’d have thought that a 90-year old veteran from Great Britain, who wrote a folk song about his experience at Normandy, would be the top-selling single in the UK today?

Veteran Jim Radford wrote “The Shores of Normandy” back in 1969.

Here he is at the The Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance matinee performance in 2014 at Royal Albert Hall in London

Profits from song sales will support the British Normandy Memorial, due to be inauguratedThursday by UK Prime Minister Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The world commemorates the 75th anniversary of the DDay landing today.  The event, of course, was the start of the liberation of Nazi-occupied western Europe, which started on 6 June 1944.
