CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – One of the bigger economic news stories of 2023 in Stark County came out at year’s end.
There was word that Canton is the only Ohio city and one of just 22 in the country to receive a $500,000 planning grant for a program.
That program would promote employment among 25- to 44-year-olds in a part of southeast and southwest Canton.
The organizations involved include city government, the group Canton for All People, the Urban League, the Stark Economic Development Board, the Stark workforce Development Board, with leadership provided by Strengthening Stark.
Continued work on that plan could lead to $20 million in CHIPS and Science Act funding to set up the program.
Also big in 2023 were the openings of the Amazon and Tractor Supply warehouses.
