(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – You’ve heard of food deserts.

In the city of Canton there are child care deserts.

That’s why the city of Canton provided $40,000 to the Early Childhood Resource Center so that wannabe-day are providers can get licensed and credentialed to watch kids in their homes.

It’s a pilot program aimed at increasing the number of child care providers in the city.

Over 600 hours of training is involved.

The goal for the funding is to get 200 children placed in day care.
