CANTON, Ohio (News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – In a rapidly-moving case, a three-judge panel on the first day of trial on Tuesday found 47-year-old George Brinkman guilty of the murders of Gene and Roberta John in June of 2017.

The three judges moved immediately to the penalty phase of the trial, where the defense was presenting the mitigating factors that favor a prison sentence over the death penalty.

That phase continues on Wednesday.

Brinkman is already on death row, convicted of killing three women that same day in Cuyahoga County.
