Canton Adds Incentive for Selected Businesses to Repair, Enhance Sidewalks

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – There are businesses in key parts of Canton where the sidewalk is in bad shape.
And perhaps the business owner doesn’t have the funds to make the repairs.
Bring in the Public Realm Reinvestment Program, a new initiative of the city Planning Department.
The program makes matching grants of up to $25,000 available for businesses that want to fix the sidewalk, or even add some furnishings or a whole outdoor cafe.
It was just recently approved by council.
Canton Mayor Tom Bernabei says it serves as a complementary program to the Storefront Improvement Program.
