Canton Council Provides Funds for Beautification Projects

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A successful City of Canton program is being funded again.

It encourages business owners to provide a nice outward appearance.

Council has OK’d $200,000 for the Storefront Reinvestment Program.

In its first three years, the program has spurred $1.1 million in window, masonry, awning and signage improvements.

The city provides an equal match for the first $25,000 spent.

Next time you’re downtown, check out Grapes in a Glass, Melange and the awning at the Arcadia Grille.

And there’s $100,000 for the Public Realm Program, for those areas adjacent to a business, like sidewalks or Streetscape features.

Mayor Tom Bernabei says the funding for both programs comes from Issue 13 Comprehensive Plan Economic Development funds.
