Canton Councilman says Changes are Coming to PD

In the eyes of Canton City Councilman-at-large Lou Giavasis, a person being arrested should get some of the same courtesy as someone paying their utility bill: police officers are city employees, and Giavasis says serious changes are coming to the police department, following an incident where an under-arrest man is kicked in the chest and others where foul language is directed at cooperating subject.  He says if any other city employee spoke or acted that way they would be fired immediately.

City leaders are hearing it from some residents, with the Safety Director Andrea Perry set to administer discipline to Officer Brandon Momirov in the kicking incident… Giavasis says Chief John Gabbard has been leading the department for only a short time and he believes he is the right person for the job.
