Canton Man Gets Prison Time for Attack on Jail Corrections Officer
CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A 25-year-old Canton man is off to prison for the next 12 to 15 years.
He entered guilty pleas to charges filed after the Stark County Sheriff’s Office says he attacked a corrections officer at the jail back in February.
Prince Trammell pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated murder and strangulation.
Trammel was being held on a ‘disrupting public services’ charge for refusing to let a woman call 911.
Investigating deputies say while incarcerated on those charges, he jumped the CO from behind, rendering the guard unconscious several times.
The officer was able to regain control of the situation with the help of staff.
There’s also an escape conviction.
He handed the CO’s keys to another inmate.
The other inmate did not act on that.
