Canton Parks Adding Pickleball Court, Hosts Regional Competition

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Are you thinking pickleball is just a passing fad?

That’s not the case in the city of Canton.

The parks and recreation department is doubling the number of courts they have in city parks over the next few months.

They are adding six of them at Maple-Schreiber Park on Schreiber Avenue NE, with four more going in at Crenshaw Park on Sherrick Road SE.

The contract was let on construction of those on Tuesday.

The park system recently hosted a Senior Olympics qualifying pickleball event.

The updates are part of $4 million in enhancements coming to the city’s parks.

That includes the recent paving of the roads and parking lots in the Stadium, Monument and Water Works Parks.
