INDIANS RECALL LHP JOSH SMITH;

RHP MIKE CLEVINGER PLACED ON INJURED LIST

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 2019 Major League roster:

Recalled LHP JOSH SMITH (#63) from AAA Columbus.

Placed RHP MIKE CLEVINGER (left ankle sprain) on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to June 18.

Smith is beginning his third stint with Cleveland this year, posting a 5.40 ERA over six relief outings over his first two tenures with the club (5.0IP, 7H, 3R/ER, 5BB, 9SO). Around his time in Cleveland, he has posted a mark of 6-1 with 4 saves and a 1.63 ERA in 20 outings (27.2IP, 9H, 5R/ER, 12BB, 39SO, .099 avg).  At Triple-A, left-handed batters are hitting .097 (3-for-31) and for the year are 1-for-37 with men on base and 0-for-24 with runners in scoring position.

Clevinger was injured on June 17 at Texas in his first start off the Injured List. He is eligible to return from the IL on June 28.  RHP AARON CIVALE (#66, MLB Debut) is currently the club’s scheduled starting pitcher for Saturday, June 22 vs. Detroit.
