Consultant Makes 39 Recommendations Following EP Train Derailment
EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The village of East Palestine has received the results of an After Action Review and Improvement Plan done by a public sector consultant on the February 2023 train derailment.
Pennsylvania-based Mission Critical Partners which specializes in communication says there was a lack of a structured unified command in the fire department and uncoordinated requests for help from other departments.
But the report praises the teamwork and dedication of those 400-plus firefighters and EMTs who responded.
There’s also recognition that the fire service was dealing with poor radio service, overloaded equipment and saturated phone lines after the evacuation order.
The report also recognizes the gravity of the incident, especially given that East Palestine has a volunteer department.
