Councilman: More Streetscape Projects Coming

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – As part of the city of Canton’s effort to make improvements in neighborhoods, Streetscape projects are going from major thoroughfares to important local roadways.

Councilman-at-large Lou Giavasis says projects in 2025 include new street lighting and more on Elgin Avenue NW, 15th Street NW and Sherrick Road SE.

Giavasis says the city is making a conscious effort to reach into long-neglected neighborhoods.

He says projects like the Hall of Fame Village, for instance, needs to, in his words, “stand on its own”.

He says where the city annually spent closer to $1.5 million a year on street paving, it’s been closer to $20 million the last few years.
