Creighton Replacement to be Named Next Week

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Stark County Republican Party’s central committee will meet on November 21 to name a successor to Janet Creighton as Stark County commissioner.

That person will fill the remaining two years of Creighton’s current term.

Fellow Commissioner Richard Regula says he learned a lot from Creighton’s collective 40 years in public service, like in 2013 and 2014, when several new department heads were hired.

Regula says the idea of “cronyism” in government hiring was set aside.

Creighton announced last Wednesday that she was taking the leap into retirement.

But she still has her finger on the pulse of Stark County Republican politics, as she remains party chair.

There are two years left on her four-year term.
