AKRON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – With Thanksgiving falling six days later than last year, Ohio’s deer hunters have had to wait an extra week before venturing into the woods, but the season is here.

The week-long deer-gun season starts locally at 7 a.m. on Monday.

The season starts a half hour before sunrise.

A reminder to follow the state’s hunting rules and regulations.

70,000 deer were harvested in Ohio during last year’s deer gun season, which also includes the weekend of December 21st and 22nd.

An Ohio State study shows that hunting and other outdoor recreation in Ohio involves 171 million trips annually, adding an estimated $5.9 billion to the state’s economy.
