ELECTION 2024: 36 Issues on Stark County Ballots

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – There are about 15 municipalities, townships and police and fire districts across the county seeking new money, and that doesn’t count the renewal issues.

In fact, make it 36 issues on the ballot when you count the liquor options.

Issue 1 is a statewide issue that changes the way Congressional and state House and Senate districts are drawn.

Of course your concern is in your backyard, where, for example, Perry Township has a fire replacement levy and a road replacement issue.

North Canton is looking for new fire station and road money in separate issues, with the village of East Sparta seeking additional road and fire money.

And Canton Township is asking voters to approve a limited home rule form of government there.

Here are some of the key Stark County issues that are not renewal issues:

MUNICIPALITY ISSUES:

Issue 4: Canal Fulton Fire 1.6 mill additional, 5 years

Issue 6: East Sparta Roads 3 mill additional, 5 years

Issue 7: East Sparta Fire .75 mill additional, 5 years

Issue 9: North Canton Fire 1.97 mill bond issue, 25 years max

Issue 10: North Canton Roads 1 mill replacement, 1 mill increase, 5 years

TOWNSHIP ISSUES:

Issue 20: Canton Township Home Rule

Issue 22: Lake Township Roads, 1.5 mill replacement, 5 years

Issue 23: Lawrence Township Roads 1.75 mills additional, 5 years

Issue 24: Lawrence Township Police 1.5 mill replacement, continuing

Issue 27: Pike Township Police .5 mill additional, 5 years

Issue 29: Marlboro Township Fire 3.8 mill replacement, 1.55 mill increase, 5 years

Issue 31: Perry Township Roads 1 mill replacement, 2.9 mill increase, 5 years

Issue 32: Perry Township Fire 4.9 mill replacement, 5 years

Issue 34: Uniontown Police District 4 mill replacement and decrease
