ELECTION 2024: Canton Twp. Voters Reject Home Rule

CANTON TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Most issues on the ballot involve money: do we pay more, or not.
That wasn’t the case with Issue 20, the Canton Township effort to adopt limited home rule government, as some other townships have done.
Chair of the township Board of Trustees Keith Hochadel says it’s not an easy sell, and they need to do a better job of explaining it.
He believes they will return to the ballot, thinking it helps the township maintain its independence from the state.
59-percent of voters turned thumbs down on that idea.
