ELECTION 2024: Uniontown PD Issue Represents Millage Decrease

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – In Lake Township, residents of the Uniontown Police District have an opportunity to lower their taxes on Election Day.

The replacement four-mill levy represents a decrease in millage from the current five mills.

The owner of a $100,000 home would be paying $140 annually, according to the district.

With the plethora of new homes built in the district over the last several decades, Lt Nate Weidman with the department says they are seeing revenue increasing every year.

They need it though, according to Lt Weidman.

With more population comes more problems.

The levy is Issue 34 on the ballot.

The levy is listed on the ballot as a “replacement and decrease”.’

The current five-mill levy was passed back in 1966.
