Fiance Admits Shooting Woman to Death in Apparent Domestic Incident

PARIS TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent case of domestic violence that ends in death.

They say 37-year-old Ashley Shumaker was shot once in the chest inside a home on Coldale Street NE, just off Route 183 in Paris Township near the Washington Township line on Sunday night.

The woman’s fiance who also lives at the house called 911 and told the dispatcher that he shot the woman when she came after him with a knife.

Shumaker was pronounced dead at the scene.

the resident is cooperating with the sheriff’s office.

Investigators are working to make sure his side of the story adds up.
