CFD Responds to 2 House Fires in Same NW Neighborhood in 24 Hours

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Two home fires in the same neighborhood in northwest Canton in less than 24 hours.

Four people were able to exit their burning two-story apartment house early Monday morning on 6th Street NW, just east of Fulton Road.

The Canton Fire Department says there were flames coming from the first and second floors when they arrived at 2 a.m. Monday.

The American Red Cross is assisting those who lost their homes.

one firefighter suffered minor burns fighting a fire, but did not seek additional treatment.

No cause.

Damage estimate $70,000.

And Sunday morning, fire did $5500 damage to a back porch on Shorb Avenue near 7th Street NW, injuring and burning the family dog in a cage there.

An electric heater gets the blame there.

No word on the dog’s condition.
