WASHINGTON, DC (News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Two years worth of heavy rain has taken its toll on the Massillon levee.

The water in the Tuscarawas River was particularly high this spring.

Now Congressman Bob Gibbs says he has successfully convinced the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to spend $22.5 million on repairs to the levee, which protects the city from flooding from the river.

The levee goes from Lake Avenue NW to Finefrock Road SW.
