(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – A local girl spent her 4th of July selling lemonade and raising money for a great cause.

We caught up with 5-year-old Cassidy Cecil and her mom Suzanne at their lemonade stand outside their home in North Canton.

“All the proceeds from our hand-squeezed lemonade stand will go to support veterans,” Suzanne said, in between helping out customers.

She says they ended up raising more than $3,660 and every last penny will go to the Gary Sinise Foundation which helps veterans, first responders and their families.

“The money will go to helping build adaptive homes for wounded veterans.”

Cassidy’s dad, Jon, was in the Marine Corps and the National Guard so Cassidy wanted to do something to help people like him who served their country.

Cassidy’s mom says Cassidy enjoys meeting people and has become quite the little entrepreneur.

“She really tries to up-sell her Cassidy Special, which is a cup of lemonade with some fresh pineapple and fresh strawberry,” her mom joked.

If you didn’t have a chance to stop by Cassidy’s lemonade stand on the 4th of July you may have other chances over the summer, and you can also donate on her Facebook page.
