Good Side of High Gas Prices: Good Year for Petroleum Business in Ohio

WORTHINGTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – There’s one positive side to higher gasoline prices.

It’s good for those involved in oil and gas drilling and refining in the state.

The Ohio Oil and Gas Association says it’s been a good year, though the industry still has refinery and pipeline bottlenecks.

There have been more permits issued and rigs in action.

Director of External Affairs for the association Mike Chadsey says there hasn’t been a new refinery built in the U.S. since the 1970s.

They say the oil and gas business supports 208,000 jobs in the state.

Fracking has also begun on public lands in the state.
