Green Woman Scammed for Nearly $20,000

GREEN (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – An area woman was scammed for nearly $20,000 in an online heist where she believed she was buying a camper.

Green native Cherie Ross says she saw an add online for a camper a few months ago that attracted her interest. Ross contacted the seller who told her the only way it could be paid for would be if she wired him the money.

Shortly after Ross wired $18,500 to the believed seller, she realized she had been robbed.

Ross is still actively trying to find a way to locate the thief while also raising awareness to others to make sure you know what you’re purchasing online.
