Halfway Home
Okay….it’s officially fall…the thermometer is still screaming summer temperatures, but regardless we are entering WEEK 5 of the 2019 High School Football Season. That’s correct….WEEK 5. Our 75th Year of High School Football Broadcasts has been an outstanding tour of Stark County, and our next stop is a feature Federal League match up as NORTH CANTON and the Vikings will battle the MCKINLEY BULLDOGS.
Both teams enter at 3 – 1, and both have the ability to score big and score often…189 for North Canton….162 for McKinley The game will feature two of the top backs in Fed as well as the county…..Lameir Garrett for the Pups and Anthony Griguolo for Hoover. They were the top two rushers in the Fed last Year, and both are on their way to 1,000+ seasons.
If Hoover brings an advantage to the game it’s their balance. Most notable in that balance is their passing game. It can be lethal to strike on any given play but also the ability to exhibit patience and methodically take what the defense gives them. The Bulldogs can move the chains on the ground as well as anybody, but the passing game is still in the growth stage…6 picks in 4 games…38% completion percentage. However, there was great improvement in the dominant win over Green last week. Let’s see if they can carry if forward vs a Hoover Defense that has picked off 6 this season.
Week 5….halfway home to dreams of a League Championship with hopes of collecting enough points to play Week 11. From my Perspective In the Booth….this will be a Federal League Fall Classic.
