NORTH CANTON (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Eight members of a local high school athletic team came to the aid of an injured woman in the midst of a workout.

During a 10-mile practice run on Thursday, a group of runners on the Hoover High School Cross Country team heard cries for help as they turned from Marquardt Avenue onto 7th Street NE.

The noise was originally believed to be the sound of a child playing. However, the runners soon found out that it wasn’t a child but a woman on the ground in a small pool of blood, who had fallen and couldn’t get up.

One of the runners called 911 while the others aided the woman, holding a cloth to her head and then finding her husband. They stayed with the woman until the ambulance had arrived.
