(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Governor Mike DeWine has already signed a bill subsidizing two nuclear power plants and several coal-fired facilities, after passage of House Bill 6 on Tuesday.

Every Ohio electricity customer will pay new surcharges, but are expected to ultimately save money with clean-energy surcharges going away.

Proponents say it supports Ohio energy.

The Environmental Defense Fund says Ohio is now the state that subsidizes old, dirty, and uneconomic technologies while gutting investments in clean energy innovation,
