Incredible Drought Levels in Southeast, East-Central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – For the first time since the U.S Drought Monitor was established in 1999, several counties in southeast and east-central Ohio are in “exceptional” drought.

That’s at the top of the drought scale.

Grain, cattle and beef farmer Kevin Teeters in Vinton County near Athens says he hasn’t seen a Summer like this in over 25 years.

Teeters says it’s setting him back four to five years, with plans to expand a pasture now on hold.

The Ohio Farm Bureau is working with government agencies to make sure farmers like Teeters are getting some assistance.

Parts of Carroll and Tuscarawas Counties were in “exceptional” drought on the last monitor map.
