At what point is a classic schoolyard game not a game anymore? When one of the players gets criminally charged. That’s the case for a 10-year-old in Canton, Michigan – and his mom says the charges are outrageous.

  • Cameishi Lindley says she was shocked when she got a call from Wayne County Juvenile Court on last week – and was told her 10-year-old son, Bryce, now stands charged with Aggravated Assault.
  • But according to police, Bryce “intentionally” struck the other student in the face with a ball. That student’s mother says her son has a medical condition that makes head injuries especially dangerous – and that he sustained a black eye, a bruised nose…and a concussion. Mom also claims her son was targeted.

Lindley says neither she nor her son knew about the boy’s medical condition and while she suggests a child with such a condition shouldn’t be playing such a game, she feels badly. “I am unaware of any of those situations,” Lindley offers. “I’m sorry that her child got hurt. I’d be sorry for any child that got hurt.”

Bryce is due in court on Thursday.
