JACKSON STANDOFF: Injured Officer Identified
JACKSON TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Canton Regional SWAT Team member and North Canton police officer injured in the deadly standoff in Jackson Township on Monday has been identified.\
He is Officer Patrick Lewis, a nine-year veteran of the department.
He was also master operator for the Canton Regional SWAT Team, where he was serving as a sniper during the incident
Lewis was struck in his right arm by a bullet fired by the unnamed wanted suspect from a motel room at the Rodeway Inn on Sunset Strip Avenue NW.
The North Canton Police Department says he was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, following surgery.
The suspect was eventually killed in the exchange of gunfire.
He had ignored numerous demands to give himself up.
