JACKSON STANDOFF: WHBC Staffers End Up Very Close to Action
JACKSON TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Next door to the motel at the Cracker Barrel restaurant, about 25 patrons were enjoying lunch when the building was locked down and they were advised to first go to the gift shop.
They and employees were then moved outdoors to the north side of the building, away from any danger.
1480 WHBC engineering technicians Dale Lamm and Rich Nemec were among those dining and then waiting out the standoff.
Dale says over 75 gunshots were heard, and there were some 25 to 35 task force, Canton, and Jackson Township officers and Stark County deputies on scene.
Some patrons were upset, but most waited quietly for the eventual “all clear”.
Dale says restaurant staff and police were very professional, given the circumstances.
