2 Families Getting GoFundMe Assistance After Canton Fire Displaces 11

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Canton Fire Department continues investigating a blaze that destroyed an extended family’s home last weekend.

But a GoFundMe effort by the softball coach of two of the children seeks to get everyone as close to normal as possible.

Brother and sister Samantha and Ben Marapao with their partners and a total of seven children lived in the Ivydale Avenue SW home in the J Babe Stearn neighborhood until last Saturday’s fire.

No one was home at the time.

But four dogs were lost in the blaze.

Adding to the family’s difficulties: the father of two of the children was killed in a mini bike crash.

The fire department says a firefighter was injured.

Around $2200 had been raised at last check.
