CANTON (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Since being deemed a state issue by the US Supreme Court in May of 2018, 35 states have legalized sports gaming or proposed legislation. This includes Ohio who currently has two separate bills, one in the house, one in the senate.

The main difference between the two is who would be in charge of operating the gaming. The House bill suggests that state lottery should control the gaming while the senate bill points toward the casinos to operate the sports books.

While the senate bill has made little progress, the house bill has had seven hearings and could reach the floor by the end of the year.

State Senator Kirk Schuring joined Pam Cook today on Canton’s morning news saying this is an opportunity Ohio should jump on. Check out their full conversation below.
