COVENTRY TWP (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A man was stuck by a car and killed earlier this morning after police say he was walking in the middle of the road. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Summit Metro Crash Response Team responded at 5:30 this morning to the accident which took place on State Mill Road in Coventry Township.

Officers say the victim, a 29-year-old Parma resident, was walking in the east bound lanes of travel when he was hit by a 2015 Honda CRV heading eastbound. The victim was transported to Akron General hospital with life threatening injuries where he was later pronounced dead.

The car was driven by a 71-year-old male from Coventry Township. Police say he was not injured in the accident. Summit County Sheriff’s office Inspector Bill Holland says the alcohol is suspected to have been involved with the victim but not the driver.
