Man Killed In Fireworks Mishap

(ONN) – Police in Toledo say a man who was shooting off fireworks in his yard was killed when a mortar exploded in his chest.

Witnesses told media outlets that several children were present when the accident happened on Tuesday.

Authorities say 61-year-old Floyd Temple had been putting on a fireworks display for the neighborhood and that one of the mortars tipped over and hit him in the chest.

He died at the scene.

It is illegal to set off such fireworks in Ohio.
