Carrie Spina, with the New Direction Performing Arts Academy, stopped into the Gary Rivers Show Tuesday morning to invite his audience to see that organization’s performance of  “Matilda”, this weekend at the Umstattd Performing Arts Hall.

The New Direction Performing Arts Academy (NDPAA) was created with the idea of bringing the arts to schools and communities who are lacking the programming and express a need to keep the arts in their students’ lives.  This organization is DIFFERENT because it’s not about making children stars. It’s about helping children find their niche in life and become a better person through the gift of  theatrical enrichment.

Matilda the Musical, like the movie, celebrates the love of reading and learning, the wonder of childhood, and the great power of young people.

Joining the conversation was Kyliegh Dom, 12, who plays Matilda, and Alexis Wilson, 19, who plays Matilda’s teacher, Miss Honey.
