COLUMBUS, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC and ONN Radio) – A workshop last week by the newly-created Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
The discussion was about reading, a subject Governor Mike DeWine is passionate about.
He believes the “science of reading” teaching method will improve reading test scores among elementary school children.
DeWine worked to form the new department to essentially replace the state Board of Education.
The Reading Recovery Council is suing the state, however.
Their programs are currently being used at the primary school level.
