By now it’s no secret, Lebron James is not picking up the player option on the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers & will become a free agent.
But should Cavs fans feel that this is the end of the James era in Cleveland? Or have faith in owner Dan Gilbert & his check book. Only time will tell as stories & rumors abound. One thing is for sure. In a statement made by LBJ in February he proclaimed.
“If you don’t hear something coming from my voice, then it’s not true. I don’t give a damn how close they are (as a source), I don’t care if it’s my kids, or my wife or whatever. If it’s not from me, it’s not true.”
The Cavaliers along with the Los Angeles Lakers still remain favorites to sign James in free agency. Cleveland can offer James a more lucrative deal than any other team– a five year deal would be in the neighborhood of $207 million. Any other franchise can offer a four year pact worth $152 million.
