NEWCOMERSTOWN (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A Newcomerstown man who is awaiting a trial for armed robbery was found guilty yesterday of committing a separate crime.

30 year-old Douglas Casteel will face sentencing after being found guilty of multiple charges from an incident in April of 2018 where he fired a handgun inside a vehicle he was driving. No one was struck by the gunshot.

Casteel has another jury trial scheduled for September 4 for an armed robbery incident which occurred on December 5 of 2018 in Newcomerstown while he was out on bond.

He originally pleaded guilty to all charges, including attempted murder and aggravated robbery but has since withdrew that plea and elected to proceed with a trial.
