North Canton, Hoover Developers Meet With Deadline Approaching

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A meeting Thursday between developers of the Hoover District west factory site and the city of North Canton may change some minds.

But city council members and Mayor Stephan Wilder remain frustrated over the lack of progress at the site.

Developers have asked for a one-year extension of a 30-year tax break agreement to meet their obligations under the deal, but council is reluctant.

Industrial Realty Group needs to get more financing together and make repairs to the building.

The plan has been for a mix of retail, apartments and restaurants.

IRG and related interests have owned the building for 16 years.
