NTSB With More on Deadly Tusky Valley Crash
WASHINGTON, DC (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – More specific information: made available from the NTSB investigation of the deadly Tusky Valley school district traffic crash from a year ago.
The report indicates 61-year-old truck driver Jacob McDonald of Zanesville was driving 74.7 miles an hour in a 70 mile an hour zone, one minute prior to colliding with an SUV and charter bus on I-70 near Columbus.
That accident killed the three adults in the SUV and three students aboard the bus, all associated with the district.
The SUV had slowed to 16 miles an hour due to slowed traffic just before being hit.
McDonald remains jailed in Licking County.
Investigators are looking at his cell phone usage before the crash, though the phone itself was destroyed in the fiery accident.
