(News/Talk 1480 WHBC) – Despite Friday’s sunshine, parts of Ohio are about to get what they absolutely do not need – heavy rain, starting Saturday night through Sunday.

Forecasters say 2-4 inches of rain is likely over a good portion of the state – maybe as much as six inches in some areas.

Northwest Ohio may be especially under the gun because of already saturated ground.

The National Weather Service says, “there is the potential for widespread and possible extraordinary flooding of streets, fields, lowland areas, streams and creeks.”

Canton is forecast to receive up to an inch of rain Saturday night, and another 1 1/2 inches on Sunday.

Forecasters say it looks like portions of southern and southeast Ohio have the best chance of avoiding the heaviest rain.
