ODOT Crews, Equipment Prepared for First Winter Weather Event

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – With a mild Fall so far, we may seem to be far away from Winter.

But ODOT is ready anyway, holding a recent readiness event at the Stark County garage on Route 62 in Canton, checking the plows and making sure other equipment is in working order.

Across Stark County, there are as many as 30 plow trucks with as many as 22 of them on the road during a significant weather event.

Even without snow in the forecast, ODOT will pretreat bridges and overpasses during Frost Advisories, to make certain they don’t freeze over.

Though we haven’t dropped below freezing yet at the airport, it’s been close.

And that’s been enough to send out the brine trucks a few times.
