ODOT, Docs Passing Out Bike Helmets

COLUMBUS, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Nearly 10,000 bicycle helmets are going out to 160 government and charitable organizations across Ohio soon.

May is Bike Helmet Safety Awareness Month.

It’s a cooperative effort of ODOT and the Ohio chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Among those locally receiving helmets: the Stark County Health Department, the Jackson Township Fire Department and Perry Helping Perry, according to ODOT.

ODOT says 1700 kids have been involved in bicycle-related accidents since 2018.
